Auckland Sustainable Development Centre (ASDC)

image

An exciting and ambitious programme to develop an environmental centre of excellence for the Auckland region and beyond, demonstrating sustainable technologies, providing education for sustainability and delivering community outreach projects.

Our vision is to create a one-stop-shop for schools, communities and businesses to learn about environmental issues and ways to live and work in a more sustainable way.

By enhancing our existing infrastructure, expanding our portfolio of projects and utilising the local environment of Olympic Park, we plan to offer the following elements:

  • Sustainability Trail.

  • Demonstration areas for Low Impact Urban Design (LIUD) technology.

  • Demonstrations and ideas for sustainable living.

  • Sustainability Workshops

  • Water Quality Monitoring Project (in partnership with University of Auckland).

  • Extensions to the EcoHouse to create an Environmental Learning and Research Centre, seminar room and study space.

  • Conversion of the Station Masters House to an EcoCafe and Sustainable Business Demonstration Centre.

  • A region-wide Education for Sustainability programme for schools across Auckland.

  • Eco-Fest 2012 - a month of environmental events in Auckland next February.

  • EcoFilm Festival – a series of environmental films with guest speakers/panel discussions.
