Sustainable Living Workshops

Drop into our visitors' centre - it's open to the public and provides information, displays, workshops, and an eco library, and that's just the start...

Surrounded by almost an acre of organic gardens, the Sustainable Living Centre is  a retrofitted 1950s house in Olympic Park.

Visit  usto find practical tools and advice on how to become more sustainable at home, at work, at school, and in your community.

We are open 10am - 4pm Monday-Friday and Saturdays 10am - 1pm or by appointment.

About the Centre

The Centre was officially opened in June 2004, and is situated on a main arterial route. Just hop on a bus or train to the New Lynn Station - we're then a short five-minute walk down Clark Street.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff are available to answer your questions or point you in the right direction for specialist advice.

Take a tour of the Centre and discover information and displays on anything from solar hot water and energy efficiency to green building and renovating.

Visit our eco library for books, magazines, documentaries and films.

Enjoy a stroll through the organic gardens, designed to incorporate permaculture principles,  showcasing techniques that require less maintenance than the average garden, but can be incredibly productive. The gardens are divided into zones: Compost Zone; Food Forest; Guilds; Native Re-vegetation; and Maori Medicinal.

The Centre has working compost and worm bins on display - great for children and adults to discover just how simple and easy home composting can be.

Groups are welcome to visit the Centre, by prior appointment.
