SUMMARY:Whau Women on Wheels: Learn to Ride Course
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fun session of empowerment\, friendship\, and the joy of pedalling together. \nTailored for women in the Whau area – New Windsor\, Avondale\, Glenavon\, Blockhouse Bay\, Green Bay\, New Lynn\, and Kelston. \nThis Bronze Bike Skills course is great for beginners. You’ll learn how to balance on a bike\, how to pedal independently\, and some basic bike handling skills. It’s a great option for anyone who hasn’t ridden before or for anyone who hasn’t been on a bike in a while. \nSuitable for women 14 years old and over. \nWhat to bring:\nWear closed toe shoes\, bring a rain jacket (you never know with Auckland weather!)\, a drink bottle\, and your own bike and helmet if they have one (if not we can provide one). \nEvent brought to you by the Whau Ethnic Collective and thanks to support from the Whau Climate Action Network and the Whau Local Board. \nThis event will be delivered by Bigfoot Adventures. \nCost: Free – But you must book a ticket to secure your place as spaces are limited. DESCRIPTION:The Whau Climate Action Network invites you to a screening of Common Ground\, a powerful documentary about regenerative farming as a solution to the climate crisis. \nBefore the film\, enjoy a short talk on regenerative gardening in Aotearoa from Amanda Hookham of Hope Teaching Garden and Kai Whau. \nRegister to attend \nPlease register to secure your seat as the venue has limited capacity\, so booking ahead helps us ensure everyone has a place and lets us contact you with any updates. \nIf your plans change and you’re unable to attend\, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your ticket to someone on the waitlist. \nThis documentary is unrated by Roco film but it does includes some thoughtful themes\, such as mental health awareness\, brief images of injuries\, occasional strong language\, and scenes that show smoking. \nVenue information \nA hidden gem tucked down a suburban road\, Ryders is located on a private two-acre property. Access the venue via a long gravel driveway — just follow the EcoMatters flags and signs. \nParking: Limited on-site parking is available. Once full\, please park on the road. \nBikes: You’re welcome to ride your bike; we’ll have space onsite to park them. \nAccessibility: Unfortunately\, this venue does not have wheelchair access. We acknowledge this and are committed to supporting accessible events whenever possible. \nThere will be one free popcorn and a Karma drink per ticket. There is no food or drink available to purchase from the venue. Please no outside food or drinks.
