Come work with us

If you know even a little about EcoMatters, you’ll know that we’re all about doing good mahi (work) for the environment. We’re a community focused charitable trust and find that, while our whānau (family) has a lot in common, we’re all individuals with a colourful range of interests too. There is space here for those who love plants and want to work or volunteer in the nursery to those who want to make an impact in zero waste and everything in between.

Would you like to join our growing hapori (community) of change-makers? Check our current vacancies or express your interest on our volunteer page.

Are you a student looking to grow your experience and understanding of sustainable practices and initiatives in the community? Then we’d love to hear from you.

We take in interns all year round and we suggest you express your interest well ahead of coming aboard so there’s a much greater chance of giving you a placement. Simply email [email protected] and we’ll be in touch.

An inspiring intern experience

Emma was an intern with us in late 2021. She worked with our Nature team and here’s what she had to say about her experience.

“The team at EcoMatters are all so passionate about the mahi they do. I have been fortunate enough to spend the last 3 months working with Hope Teaching Garden and the Nature team.

I have been able to apply key theories from my Environmental Science degree and finally get some hands-on, real-life experience out in the field. It has given me a clearer idea of this industry and how we as humans can help to navigate complex environmental issues by working with, not against nature.

For anyone who would like to spend their time learning from fun, knowledgeable and passionate people, I would definitely recommend doing the internship program at EcoMatters.”
