Healthy Homes workshops
It’s easier than you think to keep your home healthy, comfortable and dry. Our Healthy Homes workshops provide budget-friendly tips on how to keep your home warm and comfortable all year round, while saving money on your water and power bill.
Request a free workshop
We welcome requests from any community group or organisation in the wider Tāmaki Makaurau area to host a free workshop for their members.
Your group does not need to be centred on eco-initiatives, but should be interested in fostering learning among your members. It’s a great way for social and service organisations, neighbourhood, church or community groups and more to help their members learn more about saving money while creating a healthier home.
Healthy Homes workshops
These free and fun interactive sessions are suitable for all age groups, whether you are flatting, renting or a homeowner. Our Sustainability Advisors share budget-friendly tips and inspiration to help make homes healthier, more comfortable and drier.
The workshops equip you with low cost ideas that are easy to put in place in your own home, helping you save money and improve your whānau’s health. We also help those eligible to access free energy-saving products and personalised advice.
Workshops can be held with a minimum of eight people, and up to 40. Workshops take about an hour, which includes time for questions and answers. We can help with arranging a venue, marketing materials and registrations if needed, all for free!

Additional support services
Besides our Healthy Homes workshops, we also provide one-on-one services offering personalised support to reduce water and energy bills. If you need support, or know people in your community in need, please sign (them) up to the following services.
Free energy saving visits
If you are struggling to pay your power bill, you may be eligible for a Sustainability Advisor to visit your home, where we offer personalised advice on how to lower your energy use while keeping your home warm.
Water saving advice
We are providing free water saving advice to anyone in Tāmaki Makaurau. If your water use is higher than average and you do not have a leak, you are eligible for a Water Check, where we visit your home to look at all things water-related and install water saving devices to help you reduce your water use.
feedback on our workshops
Thanks so much for your great presentation, it generated lots of interest and our audience found it interesting and useful. The interaction was a good measure of the information uptake.
We appreciated the workshop content which covers a wide range of kaupapa – warm, dry homes, water, money-saving tips, DIY-skills, composting etc. Each of these is dealt with in detail but with a real straightforward, easy-to-understand approach. Whānau are valued for the knowledge and experience they bring and the kōrero is always very practical; simple steps we can all take to save money and care for Papatūānuku.
Thank you for the manaaki and aroha your team provided my Kaumatua roopu last week. One whaea in particular was surprised at how easy it was to apply a couple of the tips to her own whare, she was very happy with the workshop and encouraged me to get the other kaumatua roopu involved as well.
LETTING MEMBERS KNOW
We can provide customised posters and other help to let your members know about the workshop, once you have booked this. Please speak to one of our team members about how you can access these resources.
