Matariki

Matariki is our Aotearoa Pacific New Year – the rise of the stars of Matariki is recognised as the end of one year and the beginning of the next. In te ao Māori, Matariki is seen as a time to celebrate, prepare for the year ahead, share ideas and learn, just as the start of a new calendar year is also often viewed.

This year, we’re offering a selection of events and wānanga to help you do just that – it’s an opportunity to appreciate the gifts of nature and celebrate our connection to Papatūānuku. We invite you to take the time to pause, reflect and remember, as well as look forward to the future with optimism, by taking positive action to care for our planet and connect with others.
